Catherine Keegan Named Director of Revenue Integrity

ECU Health is a leading healthcare system that encompasses an academic medical center, community hospitals, and outpatient facilities. With a focus on patient-centric care, ECU Health delivers comprehensive medical services to diverse communities. The system includes a multi-specialty physician and provider group, offering access to a wide range of healthcare services.

In her most recent position as Director of Revenue Integrity at Integrated Dermatology Group, Catherine provided system-wide oversight for over 80 practices across 36 states. She played a crucial role in identifying, communicating, and aligning strategies for billing, coding, and documentation. Catherine's focus on maintaining compliance for multi-state operations involved navigating complex regulatory, coding, and billing guidelines.

With a career primarily focused on academic health systems, Catherine has served in revenue integrity capacities both directly and indirectly. At UCSD, she ensured billing compliance while optimizing charges and revenue, with a special emphasis on leakage prevention. Catherine worked closely with corporate compliance to educate fellows, residents, and new providers, holding bi-annual meetings with physician specialty groups.

Catherine is a certified professional fee coder through AAPC and holds coding certifications from AHIMA. As an accredited ICD-10 Trainer, she led classes during the ICD-9 to ICD-10 conversion. Catherine serves as a subject matter expert for AAPC, training providers and contributing to a new Certification Certificate Program. Her clinical background and coding expertise enable effective communication with providers and staff, demonstrated by the successful introduction of new CPT codes for accurate reimbursement.
